Patumahoe War Memorial Hall.

IMPROVING ACOUSTICS. COMMITTEE’S REQUEST. A suggestion that a ceiling be placed over the stage in the P'atumahoe war memorial hall and an expert be engaged with the view to improving the acoustics was contained in a letter received by the Franklin County Council on Monday from the secretary of the committee, Mr C. .T. Shore. Cr. J. Henry stated that now loans were consolidated the building was a county hall. The year following its erection the striking of a rate was not necessary. The returns for several years were over £IOO annually but there was a falling off to £36. His suggestion that the committee be asked to arrange more functions was adopted. The engineer was asked ta investigate the request and was given power to act. The committee reported that the annual meeting was held last week, Cr. Henry presiding. The following were elected to the committee: Messrs W. E. Johns, M. Irwin, A. Woolsey, 11. Brown, G. McAlpine and J. J. Wilson. Appreciation was expressed of what the council had done by way of equipping the hall.
