THE GAME AT PAPAKURA. OUTER SUBURBAN MATCHES. Matches in connection with the Outer Suburban Association’s competitions were continued on Saturday, Papakura again winning the double. Results are, Papakura names being mentioned first: — FIRST GRADE. Papakura v. Takanini-Kingfisher.— Men’s singles: McDonald beat Mclntosh, 6—2, 6—2 ; Stephens beat Martin, 6—o, 6—l; Burgess beat Lawless, 56, 6 —3, 6—l: Watson beat Ferguson, 6—3, 6—3. Ladies ’singles: Miss Wilsoh beat Mrs Martin, 6—5. 63: Mrs Charles beat Miss Kinlock. 6—o, 3 —6,..6 —3. Men’s doubles: McDonald and Stephens beat Mclntosh and Martin, 6—2, 6—l; Burgess and Watson won from Lawless and Ferguson by default; Garlick and Bell lost to Beams and Oldfield. 6—3, 2—6. 2—6. Ladies’ doubles: Miss Wilson and Mrs Charles beat Mrs Martin and Miss Kinlock, 6—5. 6—l; Mrs Lanigan and Miss Charles lost to Mrs Ferguson and Mrs Mcnltosh, 2—6, 6 —5, 2—6. Combined doubles: Garlick and Mrs Lanigan lost to Beams and Mrs Ferguson, o—6, 2 —6: Bell and Miss Charles beat Oldfield and Mrs j Mclntosh, 6 —5, I—6. 6—2.

Men’s doubles: Cole and Evans beat Reid and Dempsey, 11 —4: Henderson and Busing beat Cairns and Wallace, 11—4: Kemp and Lanigan won from R. Wallace and Baguley by default. Ladies’ doubles: Misses Hollis and McDonald beat Misses Cairns and Reid, 11—2; Mrs Carpenter and Miss Rhind lost to Misses Mills and Ferguson, 3—11; Miss Derbyshire and Mrs P'avitt- beat Misses Johnson and Brown, 11—1. Combined doubles : Henderson and Mrs Carpenter | beat Cairns and Miss . Papakura won by 12 matches to 2.

Wanganui’s Water Supply. , If the dry weather continues there is a possibility that a water shortage may occur in Wanganui this summer (reports “The Chronicle”). The unusual lack of rain for the time of the year, and the heavy demands for hosing have made it imperative for restrictions being imposed earlier than usual. Had such action not heen taken, and the pump started at Kai Iwi, Wanganui’s water supply would have been practically exhausted already.
