YOUNG CATTLE SOUGHT

BIG YARDING OF PIGS

The features at Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons regular stock sale at Pukekohe yesterday were the exceptionally large yarding of pigs, and the keen demand for yearling- Jersey heifers. Fully 1000 pigs were penned—it was an overflow sale. Prices were good at the commencement But eased a shade toward the end when requirements appeared to be satisfied. As far as yearling Jersey heifers were concerned an extra choice line changed hands at the best price realised for some considerahle time. Values for other classes of stock were fully maintained. Quotations are:—

Dairy cattle: There was an average yarding, the demand being good for lots displaying quality. The best cows and heifers sold from £5 10s to £7 12s fid: otficrs from £2 to £5.

Beef: There was a heavy yarding of beef and boners, and recent values were maintained. Heavy prime cows and heifers realised from £3 to £4; lighter, £2 5s to £2 17s Gd: boners and rough cows, :15s to £2: fat steers, £'i 15s to £5 7s 6d.

Store cattle: Forward conditioned two-year-old steers, £2 5s lo £2 10s; yearling to 18-months steers. 25s to £2: young store cows. 25s to 355; extra choice Jersey heifers, £2 5s to £3: smaller Jersey heifers. 30s to 425: small and weedy. 10s to 20s: 18months to two-year-old in calf Jersey heifers sold to £3 12s fid: bulls made from 25s to £4 17s fid according to weight.
