LAID TO REST.
FUNERAL OF LATE MRS MARTIN. AN IMPRESSIVE SERVICE. The funeral of the late Mrs Martin took place on Saturday, the first portion being taken in the Papakura Methodist Church at 1.15 p.m., by the Rev. E. D. Patchett, chairman of the Auckland Methodist District, who with the Rev. W. Walker, of Pitt Street Methodist Church, officiated at the graveside at the Waikaraka cemetery, Onehunga.
On Sunday morning at the Papakura Methodist Church a memorial service was held in. memory of the late Mrs J. Martin, mother of the Rev. J. F. Martin. There were present six sons of the deceased lady and the Rev. W. J. Blight, of Trinity College, conducted the service. The text was Paul's explanation "For me to live in Christ, to die is gain." At the outset the preacher said they all thanked God for the rich gift of the long and useful life that had just closed after nigh upon a century. He recalled her services to early Methodism. Her life was the story of a young girl who gave her life to Christ, and by word and life she commended her Saviour. In conclusion the Rev. Blight expressed the sympathy of the church for the bereaved sons. The choir rendered the anthem 'What are These."
