Mr R. Whitley, of Marne Road,
Papakura, writes:—"ln your issue of Friday last the question of Marne road
! was under discussion. At a previous I meeting of the town board, on behalf | of ratepayers and myself, I offered a 1 contribution as an inducement to have .! this road metalled. It was agreed i that £lO bo spent on receipt of a letter ! from myself, which was forthcoming j within a few days confirming my offer. i Mr Weir gave me a distinct promise i which has not been honoured. Now j Mr Weir has publicly stated I am not j a ratepayer, which is incorrect. My I number on the valuation roll is 419, ; and I pay a considerable sum in rates. ! On one property alone my valuation is [ £2410 and the current rates were paid [ on March 30, 1932 as receipt number | 2552 for the sum of £2B lis 7d will j show." Mr Whitley takes exception | tc Mr Weir describing him as a non- ! ratepayer.
