CLEVEDON NEWS. W.D. FARMERS' UNION. A WELL-ATTENDED MEETING. A full meeting of the Clevedon branch of the Women's Division, N.Z. Farmers' Union, held on Friday afternoon, was presided over by Mrs N. P. Adams, president of the branch. In the absence of the hrn. secretary, Mrs D. M. Bryan, who was in Welington, Mrs J. Luke was appointed acting secretary. / A very interesting and instructive lecture was given by Dr. Cheesman, of Clevedon, on home nursing. The practical talk given by the doctor was greatly appreciated by members of the division. ANNUAL SOIREE AND CONCERT. The anual soiree and concert organised by Clevedon Presbyterian church was held in the public hall on Thursday evening. The minister, the Rev. S. C. Francis, presided over the proceedings. Speeches were given by the Rev. T. 11. Roseveare, of Papatoetoe, and the Rev. D. M. Cattanach, of Drury. An excellent musical and vocal programme was rendered during the evening. HUNT CLUB RUN. Beautiful autumn weather favoured the meet of Pakuranga Hunt Club at Clevedon on Saturday morning. A large number of sportsmen followed the hounds after luncheon in the public hall. i During the breakfast. (lie master, Mr H. Bullock-Webster, addressed those present, and paid a high tribute to the Clevedon members who, he said, were the best supporters of the hunt. V The hunt moved off along the Cleve-doii-Papakura Road, and soon had a hare afoot. It took the hounds for a sharp spin, and crossed the creek into Mr D. Ryburn's property, where after two circles had been made, the hare was killed. A move was then made in the direction of Mr A. Bell's place, and a strong hare put up kept the hunt* going in an excellent run for one and a half hours. A broad creek was swum, the hounds following and bringing the hare back, but it was eventuj ally lost in a pipe drain. One hare ! was 'chopped" in a field of carrots S before it could get on thp run. The hunt then returned to the hall, where i afternoon tea was provided. The followers included the master of the hunt, Mr H. Bullock-Webster, on Tally Ho; the huntsman, Mr P. H. i Smith, on Harkaway: the whip, on Merrymaid: Mr W. Gore, on Scotty; Mr W. Duder, on Manupai; Mr J. Sutherland, on Mack: Mr H. Sutherland on Importer: Mr J. C. Sidebottom, on Safe Conveyance; Commander Bingley, on Blackthorne: Mr McPherson, on Waitaka: Mr J. Appleby, on Sparx; Mr A. Watkins, on Tiki; Mr G. Hamilton, on a bay; Mr J. Fulton, on a bay; Mr C. Allen, on Crusader: Mrs W. Wilson, on Merina: Mr C. Atchison, on a cob, and Mr A. Atchison, on Atom. The lady riders included Mrs Moncur on Moana; Mrs P. H. Smith, on Molly; Miss McPherson, on "Kink; Weston, on Vanity: and Miss P. Weston, on Bluelight. . BOY SCOUTS TROOP. The Clevedon Troop of Boy Scouts celebrated the anniversary of their formation on Saturday with a gathering at the home of Mr H. R. McKenzie, chairman of the Boy Scout committee. There was a full muster o? scouts under their patrol leaders, and after a substantial tea, games were played until nearly midnight, the evening concluding with a vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs McKenzie for their hospitality.

Mrs F. Stephens, of Clevedon, and her daughter have been staying in Devonport.

Mrs Henley, of Kaukapakapa, has been on a visit to her mother, Mrs Scott, Ness Valley road, Clevedon. Mrs Tt. Carter, of Clevedon, is spending a holiday in Auckland.
