CHRIST CHURCH ACTIVITIES. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the congregation of Christ Church, Alfriston, was held last week, when the Rev. W. 11. Rattray, presided over a good gathering of members. The vicar’s annual report showed the steady progress made during the year and the treasurer’s statement indicated a satisfactory financial position.
The following officers were elected: People’s warden, Mr Henry Marx; vicar’s warden, Mr G. Running: church committee, Mesdames Marx, R. W. Muir, H. G. Kimpton, Paul and H. G. Duncan, Messrs W. Chadwin, J. Plant, G. M. Running, H. G. Kimpton and H. G. Duncan; central vestry members, Messrs Marx and Chadwin.
Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the organist (Mrs Marx), choir, church cleaners, wardens, church committee and lay readers.
Special reference was made by the vicar to the good work of Mr A. S. Holmes, of Wiri, who had taken the morning service at Alfriston each month, and that of Mr W. Chadwin, who had conducted fifty services in the parish including thirty-eight at Christ Church. It was announced that 1 hough Mr and Mrs Chadwin were now living in Manurewa they intended to continue their association with Alfriston.
