MANUKAU RUGBY.

JUNIORS BEAT SENIOR B. BY 22 POINTS TO NIL. On Saturday the Manuk.au Rugby Union junior reps played and defeated an under 12 stone senior; B team by 22 points to nil. The juniors showed far more combination than their opponents and fully deserved their win.

The game had been in progress some time before a score was registered. The senior backs indulged in a passing bout at half way, when Bennett, the junior five-eighth, intercepted .and ran through to score junder the bar and convert; Juniors 5. Seniors 0.

The juniors again became aggressive and had the seniors penned in their own twenty-five. From a free Bennett again goaled. Juniors S. Seniors 0. Within three minutes of the kick off in the second half W. Smith rushed the ball over the line and scored wide out. The kick failed. Juniors 11, Seniors 0. The juniors kept play in.the seniors' territory and from a free Bennett again goaled. Juniors 14, Seniors 0. The juniors were playing with plenty of dash and determination and had the seniors well bottled up. Dunn secured and dashed over being tackled as he grounded the ball. Juniors 17, Seniors 0. The juniors set up a solid forward rush carrying play to the seniors' line for W. Smith to again pick up and dive over. W.

Alexander goaled as the whistle sounded for time. Final score, Juniors 22, Seniors 0. Mr J N Cossey was referee.

An amusing incident occurred near the close of the game when W. Smith scored. W. Alexander who played with a boot on the left font and a sand shoe on the right removed the sand shoe and kicked a goal with his stockinged foot. The ball was very wet arid greasy at the time, and was kicked from well out. The spectators we*e \ much amused at the incident.

For the junior team Bennett was t> best back, his straight running being an object lesson for the seniors. S. Harding played a very sound game on the wing: ?W. Cossey did his work well without being brilliant. Rewa on the other wing is inclined to hang on but otherwise %vas good. Young at half back was not impressive being inclined to run back. He throws out. a bad pass. ' W. Smith, at rovei>: placed a good game, is very fast, and follows ;.up well. Of the forwarcts Robinson was the star and played splendidly. Of the seniors S. Bell was easily the best, back, his tackling being very sound. Quigley was sound and tackled well. Hawley at half, a junior, played much better than the rep half and is worth his place in the team. N. Munro was inclined to play too much on hfs own, but got through a good deal of work. Taylor, rover for the seniors, played well. Mo-; Dowell was the best of the senior pack and is very fast and follows up well: The junior team is a well balanced 'side and will take a lot of beating in the inter sub union games. They should go very close to winning the Foote shield this season.
