OBITUARY.
MRS ELIZA BARRIBALL.
AN OLD WAIUKU RESIDENT
The death on Sunday at Waiuku of Mrs Eliza Barriball, removes another of the- old identities of Waiuku. Mrs Barriball, who was highly respected and much loved by all who knew her. was a daughter of the late Mr James Eddy, and was born at Sancreed, Cornwall, England in 1855. At the age of 24 she came to New Zealand in ihe ship “Merivale” and stayed with her uncle and aurit, the late Mr and I Mrs W. Walters, for about three years and was then married to Mr Joseph Barriball, of Waiuku. With her husband she took up farming life in tin? Waiuku district, sharing in ail ihe hardships and privations of the' early settlers, among whom she is gladly remembered for the great assistance at all times so cheerfully given. She. was a staunch member and regular attendant of the Methodist Church, taking a keen interest in its various activities right up to the time of her death. By her quiet and faithful work she had endeared herself to the whole community and will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband, and a family of seven sons, and four daughters as. follow:—Messrs C. J. E. Barriball (Oruru), R. J. Barriball (Waiuku), H. M. Barriball (Waiuku), J. L. Barriball (Christchurch), W. E. Barriball (Oruru), R. R. Barriball (Te Aroha), G. S. M. Barriball (Wellington), and : Mesdames G. V. Williams (Waiuku), S. G. Parmenter (Waiuku), A. Gillon (Te Aroha), and D. V. Day (Waiuku) . In addition there- are 1G grand-children. ' ‘ The sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended to the: family in its irreparable loss.
