STRAND PICTURES. “THE FORTUNE HUNTER.” _J . One of the charms of Syd. Chaplin’s feature picture, “The Fortune Hunter,” which has just been released by Master Picture, and which is on
the calendar for presentation at the Strand to-night and to-morrow nights, is the skill with which it presents a number of characters known to everyone who has ever visited a small town.
First and foremost is the glib, young fellow who works behind the soda fountain in the village drug store, and there is the bevy of pretty, young girls who attend the high school. Most attractive of these girls in “The Fortune Hunter” is Josie Lockwood, daughter of the town banker. Josie is a delight to the eye, but shy on vocabulary, being beautiful but dumb.
FRIDAY NIGHT. “GOOD TIME CHARLEY.” “Good Time Charley,” a Warner Master Picture, featuring Helene Costello, Warner Oland and Clyde Cook, comes to the Strand Theatre next Friday. Others in the strong cast are Montagu Love, Julanne Johnston and Hugh Allan. Michael Curtiz directed. “Good Time Charley” is a comedydrama of theatrical life, depicting the fortune, agreeable and otherwise, of a small town song-and-dance-man and his daughter. It is an absorbing story of many thrills and splendidly sustained.
