FAILURE OF LIGHTS.

SERIES OF INTERRUPTIONS.

TROUBLE ON THURSDAY NIGHT. . (Own Correspondent). The failure of electric light at Papakura on Thursday evening caused a great deal of inconvenience. Shortly after six o’clock the town was suddenly plunged into darkness, and after about twenty minutes the light flashed on for a few minutes. Several inter- j ruptions continued, and it was about 7.30 before the trouble was rectified. The cause of the interruption in the supply is unknown. The fact that it was the late shopping night caused business people much inconvenience and a probable loss of trade. While the public recognise that accidents will occur at the source of sup-> ply and are quite unavoidable in many cases, an explanation of the cause ot the failure would be appreciated. Sev - eral business men in Papakura suggest that as the Auckland power board notify in the papers when the current is to be cut off in a certain districts, it. could by the same medium explain Thursday’s failure.
