HOW IS IT KEPT?

The modern way of keeping the Christian world's most solemn anniversary is calculated to make all seri-ous-minded people somewhat sad. and cause them to* wonder if we are losing all our faculties for reverence. Foi\ look at it in what way we will, it is doubtful if it would not be better to let the. day go unmarked altogether than to turn it from a holy-day into a mere holiday.

has been an inspiration to hall' mankind. Those to whom the blessed gift of faith h."« ' - ■ -•--...-, have recognized and worshipped Him as the Redeemer of the World. Those who cannot believe that He was really Divine have willingly conceded him the highest place as teacher, as Humanist. as Altruist. Both classes alike have put him on a moral plane unapproached and unapproachable. And yet, the best they can do to-

day for His memory is the mockery of a holy-day we have turned Good Friday into. Is He to be forced to repeat to us the agonised cry from the Cross to his Maker—" Why has Thou forsaken Me?"
