BUCKLAND NEWS.

WELFARE LEAGUE MEETS. CLOSING OP RAILWAY GATES. A meeting of the Buckland Welfare League was held on Saturday evening, Mr Bullock being in the chair. The committee decided to protest to the Railway Department regarding the gates to the goods shed being locked at four and to the absence of lights on the platform when the evening passenger trains arrive. As the platform is not long enough to accommodate a train in its entirety people often have to alight on the side of the line, and in the dark. This is both unpleasant and unsafe. A subcommittee consisting of Messrs Bullock, Allan and Danes was appointee to make the arrangements for the Anzac Service.

A committee consisting of Messrs Butcher, King. Jamieson and Wilcox was appointed to arrange for a dance on the evening of Easter Saturday in aid of the Hall funds.

A working bee was arranged for the afternoon of Easter Tuesday to clean the monument grounds, after which It is hoped that a more satisfactory arrangement for keeping the grounds in order could be made.
