Mr G. R. Dansey, who was recency appointed postmaster at Pukekohe, arrived last evening to take up his new duties. Sir William Fraser, formerly Minister Public Works in the Reform Cabinet, passed away yesterday at very ripe age of 38. years. Mr E. F. Snell, of Wliakatane, who has been appointed headmaster of the Pukekohe Primary School, will take up his new duties early in September. Mr L. Sharp', assistant engineer to I lit; Franklin County Council, was appointed engineer to the Pukekohe borough at last night’s .council meeting. Air 11. H. S, Short, who is in charge ol‘ the Whangarci Borough Council’s waterworks, is spending holidays in Pukekohe, and is staying with his mother.

Mr H. E. R. L. Wily, of ‘The Falls,’ Mauku, who was recently thrown from his horse and sustained a dislocated shoulder, is about again, and left for Auckland to-day. Tiie death occurred at Tauranga on Friday night of Mrs E. Snodgrass, widow of the late Mr John Snodgrass, a well-known hank manager. The late Mrs Snodgrass was a daughter of the late Captain vMaylon, of Manurewa. A very old colonist, in the person of Mr John Macky, died at his residence. Gillies Avenue, Romuera, on Sunday. The late Mr Macky, who was 77 years of age. was tlie second' son of the late Rev. John Macky, of Papatoetoe. Ihe death of Mr Thomas Leslie Svendsen took place at his late residence, Seddon street, Pukekohe, early on Sunday morning. The late Mr Svendsen,who was 34 years of age,had been in failing health for some time, bul despile Ibis his death was unexpeel.ed. He leaves .a widow and three young children.
