MORE BUSES WANTED.
Sir, —While the Wakari and Kaikorni citizens are thrashing out the problem of a bus service, there is another district not far distant that 1 consider warrants a little service apart from that already in operation. This district I will term the Lower Kaikorai .Valley, by which 1 mean the area from Fraser's road'to Hunter Bros.’ store, opposite the mill. Admittedly the early morning service from the mill is good, but with the departure of the 8.25 school bus the whole system departs for the day until the arrival of the mill buses about 4.40 p.m. Now, sir, if there are buses available, as has been admitted in connection with the Normanby suggestion, could we not have some of them utilised on this route, thus rendering a muchappreciated service to the housewives, especially those with young children? Should this suggestion not prove feasible, then I would suggest a comparatively simple alternative to cater for evening traffic after the last cable car at 6 p.m: Instead of making the bus terminus at Fraser’s road, as is the case at present, simply extend the service to Hunter Bros.’ store, which I would say would only require an alteration in the time-table of from five to seven minutes on each trip, and would prove a well-patronised service.— I am, etc.. Footsore Ratepayer. August 19.
