PORTOBELLO AFFAIRS DISCUSSED BY NEW ASSOCIATION
Mr A. Tregonning presided over a fairly .well attended meeting of the Portobelio Ratepayers and Householders’ Association held in the Coronation Hall on Tuesday. The Secretary reported that 103 financial members were already enrolled, with two more collecting blocks to come. The question of the Coronation Hall was dealt with by the committee and approved of by the general meeting. The decision was that, considering the obligations entailed, and the fact that the county council had always been reasonable in letting the ball for any worthy cause, the management or control of the ball would be of no benefit to the association. - A synopsis of the interview with the Hon. h’. Jones and the chairman and secretary was presented to the meeting, together with a lengthy letter from the office of the Minister of Defence to Mr F.
