GOVERNMENT TO BE ASKED TO BEAR COSTS OF QUARANTINE ON IMPORTED STOCK
(P.A.) WELLINGTON , June 20. A remit urging that the Government should bear the cost of quarantine ot stock imported into the Dominion by private breeders was endorsed by the (innual conference of the Royal cultural Society for consideration by the United (Breed Societies Association. Another remit asking for inquiries to be made from Dominion stock firms with a view to securing a reduction in t*ie over-all charge made for supervising the importation of stock was similarly approved. The attention of the Government is to be drawn to the serious result of the dispersal of old-established . and historic ( stud flocks through enforced subdivision of land, it was stated that the quality of New Zealand live stock was being detrimentally affected. The •inference was. however, fully in accord with the policy of .settling exCerviccmen on the land.
