FERBIER’S BRILLIANT PLAY IN GOLF SEMI-FINALS

NEW YORK, June 23. Jim Ferrier entered the final of the national professional golf championship at Detroit to-day by overwhelming Art Bell by 10 up and nine to play in the semi-final. Ferrier’s was the biggest margin of victory in the tournament. He did the first 18 holes in 67, five under par, and covered the next nine in 32, four under par, to end the match on the twenty-seventh green Bell played one over par for the 27 holes and never had a chance. Playing with what some spectators called ‘“almost maddening deliberation.” Ferrier built up most of the margin on the first nine holes. He won the first six with an eagle 3 and the third, sixth, and seventh holes with birdies. He also won the four of the six holes in the afternoon . round, making him 10 tip. Ferrier’s opponent in the final, which will be played to-morrow, will be Jlalvin Herbert, who defeated Vic Ghezzi 6 and 5 in the other semi-final.
