SUBSTANTIAL SAVINGS INVESTMENTS
The outstanding features of last week’s National Savings activities were, first, the attainment in Marlborough during the progress of a special campaign of the full year’s district quota, and secondly, the successful outcome of a special drive in the Nelson district which was launched early this month toward the attainment of a locally-selected objective of securing investments amounting to £5,000 in both provinces. The public support was such that, the objectives were reached a week earlier than had been anticipated. In other postal districts the investments were also at a high level, the Dominion total being well in advance of the total recorded for the corresponding period last. year. Individual quotas for the week were secured at 310 places, including all the principal centres.
