The Auckland Hospital Board on Monday evening appointed Dr Selwyn Hills acting senior pathologist, pending a permanent appointment to replace Dr Walter Gilmour, director of pathology, who resigned .recently. Dr Gilmour relinquished his duties yesterday, and is going into private practice. He was farewelTed by about 65 present and past members of the hospital laboratory staffs at a function in the Mount Eden Tea Kiosk, The board also appointed Dr J. M. Stavely acting senior assistant pathologist to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dr Lindsay Browil. Mr P. J. Twomey, director of the Lepers’ Trust Board, has notv left hospital, and will shortly conduct his annual appeal for the Island lepers. 'Mr L. M. McLeod, formerly of Dunedin, who has been Publio Works district engineer at Dannevirke for some years, has been transferred to the posi-' tion of district engineer at Wairoa., The parliamentary Press gallery, at its annual meeting yesterday, elected Mr G. F. Harcourt-Wybert chairman and Mr E. W. Benton vice-chairman. Captain W. ,A. Beswick, harbourmaster at Auckland since March, 1946. has tendered his resignation on medical grounds.
