£1,000,000 TYRE FACTORY WILL BE ESTABLISHED AT PETONE
(Rec. 9.30 a.m.) PERTH, juiie 24, . The policy of the Dunlop Rubber Company, which Was establishing a new factory at Petone, would be to engage New Zealand employees, said Mr Fraticis Smith, who reached Fremantle today in the Largs Bay. He is on hi* way to New Zealand to become Work.* director Of the new tyre factory, which he said was a £1,000,000 project. Mr Smith added that the factory would employ between 400 and 500 hands, A few key men would* come from England, but would only remain in New Zealand temporarily, Mr Smith is accompanied by his .wife and three children. He has been in Charge of one of the technical branches of the Dunlop works at Birmingham.
