SECOND MEMBER OF SAMOAN MISSION ARRIVES

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 24. The second member of the mission set up by the Trusteeship Council of the United Nations Organisation to investigate the petition of Western Samoa for self-government, Dr Pierre Ryehmans, of Belgium, arrived to-day in Auckland from Australia by flying boat. The first member of the mission, Mr F. B. Sayre, arrived from the United States on Monday. Governor-General , of the Belgian Congo for 12 years, Dr Ryehmans has had 32 years’ serivee with the Belgian Colonial Service. He has represented Belgium in many of its overseas territories, and for a long period was stationed in the former Belgian mandate in Africa, Ruana Urandi. Dr Ryehmans recently resigned from his country’s Colonial Service to represent Belgium on the Trusteeship Council.
