AMERICA DROPPING BEHIND IN AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION
NEW YORK, May 14. High army and navy officers areliolding an emergency meeting with representatives of the aircraft industry to discuss America’s deteriorating position as a world air power, says the ‘ HeraldTribune.’ The total American military aircraft production at- present is 1,330 a year, whereas factories- need orders of' about 5,000 a- year to keep going. Intelligence reports show that Russia and Britain are outstripping the United States in research, design, and production. The officers will report to the Senate Commercial Aviation Sub-com-mittee.
