FIRST NEWSPRINT FROM NEW ZEALAND TIMBER

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 3. The first newsprint to be; produced from New Zealand timber will be made, in Tasmania this month when a sample shipment of pinus insignis will be treated. The experiment is being sponsored by the New Zealand Government. Announcing this last night, the Commissioner of State Forests, the Hon. C. F. Skinner, said the timber had already beep converted: into pulp at the ,paper mills in Victoria and the pulp would be * taken to Tasmania to he converted into paper. Mr Skinner, said it was the policy of the Government that sufficient papej and pulp mills to meet the needs of New Zealand should be established. , in'-this country.'-
