AMERICA IN GREECE
TITO'S GLOOMY WARNING THREAT TO WORLD PEACE BELGRADE, March 31. Marshal Tito, addressing the Yugo-. slav Parliament, said Greece, as a result of American intervention, would become a base for imperialist plans which might threaten world peace. The United States Embassy in Belgrade, under Richard Patterson, who resigned last week, had hampered friendly Yugo-slav-American relations by constantly trying to interfere in Yugoslav internal affairs and slandering Yugoslavia. Britain and the United States had accused Yugoslavia of being a Soviet satellite, whereas Yugoslavia “ went along ” with Russia because Russia was the only country that did not threaten Yugoslav independence. Yugoslavia appreciated Unrra contributions, but regarded them as her right.
