BREAD AND CEREALS BEING MET DEMONSTRATIONS IN RUHR CONTINUE (llec. 11.50 a.m.) (BERLIN, April 2. The bread and cereal ration is being met in the (Ruhr for the first time since the crisis began a month ago. British Military Government sources said that 60 per cent, of tlie meat ration was being met,, and that the remainder was being made up with fish. The fat ration, however, is still not being supplied. The authorities have ordered an investigation into the apparent. breakdown in the German food administration. More than 50,000 Germans demonstrated to-day against the food shortage at scattered points throughout the British zone. It is estimated that 15,000 demonstrated at Dortmund, 12,000 at Duisberg, 16,000 at Hamburg, 8,000 at Bonn, and 1,500 at Cologne. Delegates of the German Miners’ Union at a meeting at (Bochum decided to call out all Ruhr miners for a onedny strike on Friday. Four thousand Bochum miners stopped work and demonstrated against the food shortage. (Representatives of the - Ruhr miners were then meeting at Bochum to decide whether a general strike, involving 300,000, should be staged.
