VANISHED BUTTERFLIES
AUSTRALIAN COLLECTION MESSING
(Rec. 10.35 a.m.) LONDON. Feb. 17. Coded cablegrams •'have been exchanged between Scotland Yard and Australia regarding the “ vanished butterflies ” mystery. Reports have been received that New Zealand, as well as Australian museum authorities have found collections of butterflies missing. Reuter states that Scotland Yard officers may have to visit, Australia in connection with the case.
[Yesterday a cablegram stated: “ Detectives recovered from a house in the Home Counties a collection of rare butterflies worth thousands of pounds, allegedly missing from Australian and New Zealand mnseums, says the ‘ News of the World.’ Scotland Yard, .aDer months of inquiry, thus believes it has solved one of its strangest cases.” Dr H. D. Skinner, of the Otago Museum, stated that no butterflies bad been stolen from the museum’s collection, and he had no knowledge of any losses having been suffered by other museums in New Zealand.]
