MISHAP TO M.P.

FINGER AMPUTATED (Special.) WELLINGTON, February 14. A nasty accident befell Mr T. H. Combs, M.P. for Lyttelton and Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Minister of Finance, a week ago. While he was operating a circular saw at his home his left hand came into contact with the saw teeth, and as a result he had to have the index finger of his hand amputated to the second joint. Mr McCombs also narrowly escaped losing the next* finger. He was operated upon promptly, and is making such .a good recovery that he has resumed his work at Parliament Buildings, though he is carrying his arm ,in a sling.
