BACK STROKE CHAMPION

NGAIRE LANE IN SYDNEY DEFEATS N.S.W. TITLE-HOLDER SYDNEY, January 7. Miss Ngaire Lane, of Dunedin, won the Women’s 110 Yards Back Stroke Championship of New South Wales at the Olympic Pool to-night. She beat the titleholder, Miss Gwen Millard, of New South Wales by two yards in lmin 22 l-ssec. Miss Marie Stevenson, of New South Wales was third. . Miss Millard went to the lead early, hut was gradually overhauled by Miss Lane and the pair turned together at 55 yards. Miss Lane then forged ahead to win by two yards. Miss Millard won the title some years ago with the Australian record time of lmin 16 4-ssec.
