LONDON TRANSPORT STRIKE
(Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 7. Five thousand drivers and other employees of large haulage firms started an unofficial strike because they were dissatisfied with the recent wages and hours proposals by the industry’s wages board. The strike is likely to spread, finally involving 10,000 men and affecting supplies of food, newsprint, wines, spirits, and tobacco over the whole of England.
