RECORD PRICE FOR WOOL AMERICAN PURCHASE AT LAUNCESTON (Rec. 12.20 p.m.) HOBART, Jan. 8. Greasy wool brought a World record price at Launceston wool sale when an American buyer paid 153 d a lb for four bales of fine merino. The wool came from the Connorville Estate of R. G, Connor at Cressy. The price is more than three times the previous Tasmanian record of 49$d paid in 1925. The previous best Australian price this season was 121£d at the Melbourne sales. This ‘ was also beaten at the Launceston sales by three lots, which brought 130 d, 129 d, and 125 d respectively.
