The facts are that this course was taken without reference to rank and file members or the members of the Executive Council of the New Zealand Workers’ Union. It was assumed by the national president and general secretary that members of the Executive Council would concur in the action taken, but as far as the Otago and Southland branch of the New Zealand Workers’ Union is concerned, the matter has not been deliberated upon and consequently, we, as executive councillors representing this branch, have not concurred in the action takon. We are etc., —E. It. Brooks (Dunedin), C. Cleghorn (Coal Creek). J. Ward (Bluff), national councillors. January 8*
