(Rec. 11.35 a.m.) CANBERRA, Nov. 22. Opposition members in the House of Representatives last night alleged that the Government was trying to muzzle Mr J. T. Lang (Independent) during broadcasting time. The chairman of committees threatened to name several Opposition members when they demonstrated against his giving the call during the Budget debate to Mr Beazley (Labour) in preference to Mt Lang.
Disorder at Canberra
Mr Lang and Mr Beazley rose together at the conclusion of a member’s speech, and the chairman gave Mr Beazley the call. Members cat-called, booed, and shouted at one another across the House, which was in an uproar for more than 10 minutes. Sir Earle Page (Country Party) moved that the chairman’s ruling be disagreed with, but the motion' was defeated by 29-23, and Mr Beazley then began his speech, *
