Passengers in the Waitaki, due at Wellington on November 30, include two African lionesses, one lion, and a pair of huanacos whose future home will be the Wellington Zoo. All the animals are from the Melbourne Zoo. It is hoped to breed from the lions. The two lions at present in the zoo are getting on in years. One was bred in Wellington 25 to 30 years ago and the other came from Taronga Park, Sydney, about the same time. The huanacos are South American representatives of the Arabian camel family. They have no hump and are less than half the size of a camel. “ Harmful propaganda was contained in a report put out by the Rehabilitation Department,” states ‘ White’s Aviation.’ referring to difficulties faced bv Aero Clubs to-day. “ It stated in effect, that there would be few opportunities in commercial aviation. This was the sort of statement that. could be expected from a bureaucratic mind which had vision into the future blocked by a heap of mouldy files. Even, though bureaucracy is rampant in New . Zealand there is no reason why initiative should not gather superiority and counter it In a nutshell, just as long as those persons who really want to "fly, do nothing about becoming really active, will the club movement remain inert and partially helpless. Just that long there will be a big. aero club question. If it is not satisfactorily settled, the Government will take over the clubs.” “ Don’t you think young people should have the vote at 18? ” asked a member of tlie audience of Dr Josephine Macalistcr Brew, tho English authority on youth services, in the Wellington Town Hall Concert Chamber. “ Well, I’m not good at ages,” answered the lecturer. “ I just don’t know. Here in New Zealand you can’t have a drink in a public house until you are 21. You can be called up for military service when you are 18 and you can get married at 16. So I just don’t know. But I do know some people, whom, even if they lived to 80, I wouldn’t allow to vote.”
