CEASE FIRE MBEI TO BE MADE EFFECTIVE
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 4. Although the Indonesian Premier, Dr Sjahrir and Professor Schermer..horn, reached an agreement in principle on a truce throughout Indonesia three weeks • ago, the intransigence of the Republican army commanders has been mainly responsible for the delay in issuing the official cease fire standfast order, says ‘ The Times ’ Batavia correspondent. The patient efforts of Lord Killearn’s deputy, Mr Michael Wright, in presiding over the joint truce commission consisting of the Commander-in-Chief of the British, Dutch, and Indonesian, forces, succeeded -in getting the commission to agree on the order which wilj be issued as soon as possible in all areas where fighting is continuing, including Medan.
