MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS

The monthly meeting of the Management. Committee of the Dunedin Lawn Tennis Union was held last night, the president, Mr F. L. Hope, occupying the chair, and there wore also present Misses D. Ross and C. Thompson, Messrs A. Nevin, R. W. Facer, A. Drysdale, T. Chesney, A. Graves, H. Hoare, A. Lindsay, C. K. Pritchett, D. H. Mason, and S. R. Peat. A letter was received from the Otago Lawn Tennis Association suggesting that a match be played between the Otago and Southland Sub-association on February 1 at Logan Park.-—The committee approved the proposal, and it was left to the secretary to make tentative arrangements. An application was received from the Y.W.C.A. sports secretary for affiliation for the newly-formed tennis club. —Granted.

The Kiwi Club wrote, asking for a ruling on the correct order of arranging teams for matches. —It was decided to have a new set of match rules printed and forwarded to all clubs. It was resolved to draw up a ranking ladder for men’s and ladies’ singles, and Messrs Lindsay, Nevin, and Mason were elected as a ladder committee.

The secretary was instructed to notify the Tennis Umpires’ Association of permission to appoint umpires for the control of all union A grade matches. It was decided to write the North Otago Tennis Association and the South Otago Sub-association suggesting representative matches’, with the union early in -the new year.
