GOERING’S SUICIDE
WAS NEWS DELIBERATELY WITHHELD? (N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent.) LONDON, Oct. 18.. British correspondents at Nuremberg say the question is now being asked whether the release of Goering’s suicide was not deliberately withheld in order to favour the American Press. All the Allied correspondents in gaol knew the facts at midnight, but were not permitted to file their messages till 6 a.m., which corresponds with midnight, New Yoiik time The ‘ Manchester Guardian ’ says: “ This is by no means the first time since the occupation that unnecessary secrecy and suppression put the American Press in a position for cornering news of world interest. The.question is being asked: How far are these occurrenoes coincidental?
