FLYING
AERO GLUB NOTES High winds during the greater part of the week restricted Hying considerably, although Sunday’s unexpectedly fine weather was utilised to the full. A. E. Hardman completed his first solo successfully and got in quite a bit of flying subsequently. Ex-Air Force pilots, B. Bonifant, N. Keegan, and F. N. Faircloth were checked out after a fair spell away from Tigers, S. Smart celebrated the arrival of his endorsed A license by putting m a full week-end’s flying, A visitor during the week was Mr M. Walker, piloting the Canterbury Aero Club’s Whitney ZK-AJF. His passenger was Mr Dyer, and they are doing a cross-country tight round the South Island. Mr J. R. Day and Mr Ivan Penrose flew ZK-AJL to Rongotai and left it there with De Havilland’s to fit a canopy top. The opportunity was taken to view , surplus equipment at Wigram and the progress being made with the overhaul of tne Miles Magister at De Havilland’s. Both these machines should be back in service in four weeks’ time. * ; ,
