BOMB EXPLOSIONS

JEWISH TERRORISTS ACTIVE BRITISH POLICE SERGEANT KILLED (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) • ■ JERUSALEM, September 9. The Jewish National Council, ,Vaad Leumi, after a six-hour meeting which was attended by Jewish mayors and the chairmen of local community councils from 'all parts of Palestine, carried a resolution for non-co-operation with the local administration. Non-co-opera- ■ tion is, to be effective immediately, with the resignations of Jewish members from about 30 Government advisory committees, covering, practically every aspect of civil administration. A bomb explosion to-day wrecked the public information and Press censorship offices in Tel-Aviv. The casualties are reported not serious. The railway line in front of the post office at Tel-Aviv, also the railway between Tel-Aviv and Jaffa were blown up by mines this evening. Two Jews, believed to be members of the Stem gang, shot dead , a British police sergeant in a Haifa'street. The sergeant was the man who identified Itznak Yesternitskv the Stern gang’s deputy commander, during the questioning of Jews rounded up in the Tel-Aviv comb-out on : August 1. A crowd of Jewish youths to-day at-, tacked and beat up several Polish'soldiers in Rehoboth. An elderly Jewish woman and a,•-Jewish soldier were earlier reported killed by uniformed Poles. , V. Other incidents have arisen recently from Polish-Jewish friction in a, town which housed non-Jewish Poles awaiting repatriation by Unrra or transfer to Scotland. Five hundred Poles left recently for Poland. i ' ■ Swift action by. troops and police followed siren warnings and explosions. Soldiers manned road-blocks and deK’tions throughout Palestine and down barbed wire across the Jerusalem roads. Troops guarded public buildings and took np action stations in camp. The police stopped and searched motor cars, and challenged pedestrians. Meanwhile, the Irgun Vai Leumi secret radio declared; “ The end of the truce,” Six more heavy explosions were reported at Acre. Twenty-five gunmen attacked a goods .traiu near Jerusalem after detonating a mine 200 yards in front of it. Arab police returned the fire and drove off the attackers. •
