SURPLUS AMERICAN, EQUIPMENT
LARGE ACQUISITION BY ITALY (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) ROME, Sept. 9. Italian and American representatives have reached agreement whereby Italy acquires all unsold and future surplus United States army equipment in the Mediterranean. Mr Paul Bonner, chief field commissioner of the office of the Foreign Liquidation Commission in Europe, who signed for the United States, said the sale, which gives Italy equipment valued at 565,000.000 dollars for 1(50,000,000 dollars, would help to re-establish Italian trade—one of the factors for the realisation of the democratic ideal.
