Ignored and Insulted
British Mission in Argentina
(N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent.)
(Rec. 1 1 a.m. LONDON. September 9. The ‘ Sunday Dispatch ’ special representative in Buenos Aires says the British mission in Argentina has been deliberately ignored and slighted by the Argentine. Government. This policy commenced the moment the mission set foot on Argentine soil. There was not even a Government representative sent to meet it, and since then it has been considerably rebuffed and insulted,, despite the fact that the Argentine Government was at pains to receive the Soviet delegation, which arrived shortly after the British, with considerable cerenjiony. The members of the British mission, have not been invited to any of the official or social functions held for the Russians. This attitude has persisted throughout the negotiations, despite efforts by Sir Reginald Leeper, the British Ambassador, to intervene.
The correspondent charges Miguel Miranda, the chief Argentine negotiator, with • attempting to blackmail the British into accepting Argentina s terms.
