Designs and fabrication plans are now well in hand for the construction of eight 55ft fishing vessels for Unrra by two Auckland shipbuilding companies. The fishing vessels will be used in China, and it is expected that the first five will be ready for delivery by the end of the' year. All the trawlers will be built of steel. The 125 ft composite trawler Tawliai, built in Auckand during the war for the Navy and taken over by Unrra some months ago, is being prepared at Devonport naval base for trawling in Chinese waters.
