STOCK EXCHANGE MEMBERS, SUSPENDED " DEALINGS IN GOLD MINING SHARES (N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent.) <Rec. 10.5 a.m.) lonbon; July 19.Three leading members of the London Stock Exchange have been suspended for, periods varying from two years to six months. Four others were severely . censured following an inquiry by the Exchange' council into dealings.?in?.-.Sti > Helena (Orange . Free State) gold mining shares. The inquiry caused the greatest sensation in the city for years. Crowds gathered , when'. the : ripticeß of suspension and censure were posted in the Exchange. [A message received on July 18 stated: The. Council of London Stock Exchange is at present conducting an inquiry into dealings in St. Helena (Orange Free State) gold mine shares in London on May 22. It is alleged that certain members T of the Exchange received shares at 52s 6d each before the dealings began, and that these were placed at approximately £5 a share when selling opened, with the result that very large profits were alleged to have been taken. Protests have beerr lodged by other members of the Exchange whose clients' bought at the top prices. St. Helena shares are at present quoted at 73s 9d.]
