ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES
FIRST OBJECTION LODGED GORE-MATAURA NO GEHTRAL OTAGO . AFFILIATIONS (P.A.) GORE, April 16. A resolution objecting to the proposed electoral boundary alterations under which Gore and Mataura are included in Central Otago was carried at a public meeting at Goro last evening, attended by an enthusiastic audience of about 100 persons, including a number of women representatives and a variety of local organisations. The resolution was: " In the opinion of this meeting the proposed Central Otago electorate is unsatisfactory and unworkable, as it comprises two distinct types of country with no community interest and poor communications .between the northern and. southern sections. " The meeting resolves that a strong objection be lodged with the commission, and. the suggestion made that the requirements of the statute would be met by continuing the Central Otago electorate from the vicinity of Rae's Junction and Beaumont towards Dunedin, taking in, if necessary, Lawrence, and extending to a suitable point on the coast, thus including Mosgiel, Green Island, and Outram. Clutha electorate should be compensated for territory lost by extending in a westerly direction to the proposed boundaries of Wallace and Awarua, Gore and Mataura then being included in the Clutha electorate."
