LOAD FOOD SHIPS—GOVERNMENT'S 11ESP ONSIBI LIT Y. A meeting Qf tlio " Load Food for Britain " Committee was held to-day, and it was decided to send a further telegram to the Prime Minister. It stated, inter alia, that the existing facts proved that much could be done which was not being done concerning waterfront congestion, and for the Government to resign this problem to the Waterfront Control Commissioner appeared quite inadequate. A grave responsibility rested on the Government to employ volunteer labour, which was standing by. —Auckland Association telegram. MORE URGENT SUMMONS TO PRIME MINISTER. A reply to yesterday's telegraphed request from Auckland business organisations that the Prime Minister come to Auckland to discuss the electric power situation was received to-day from Mr Eraser, stating that the matter was one for the Minister in charge of hydro-electric works, and that the representations had been referred to him. To-day, the Auckland Employers' Association sent another telegram to Mr Fraser, emphasising that the Prime Minister, as the head of the Government, should be acquainted with the difficulties and the suggestions for overcoming them.—Press Association.
