AUCKLAND'S POWER CRISIS

LOSS OF PRODUCTION SERIOUS . PRIME MINISTER SUMMONED NORTH (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 15. As the. result. of a unanimous decision at a meeting of business organisations to-day, a request has been made to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, to come to Auckland immediately in the national ■ ijiterest to discuss the electric pbwer cut-off with all .sections of the community. * The meeting comprised representatives of the Auckland Employers' Association, the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, and the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. The Auckland Trades and Labour Council was also approached, and its secretary. Mr W. Ashton, is stated to have signified its willingness to join with these three organisations in urging the Prime Minister to visit Auckland. Mr Ashton also agreed that his council would take part in any discussions held. A telegram sent to the Prime Minister after the meeting stated'that a loss of production, and (or) wages at this time would reflect seriously on all sections of the community, this must have a serious effect on employment, and undoubtedly would retard the output of goods which were now high in demand and short in supply. The mayor, Mr J. A. C. Allum, also sent, a telegram to the Prime Minister heartily supporting the request and urging Mr Fraser to come to Auckland, as the matter was regarded seriously the community.
