PREFERENCE REFUSED
HEW ZEALAND BARRISTER IN SYDNEY (Rec. 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 15. The Central Preference Board refused the application of a former New Zealand squadron-leader for preference under the Re-establishment and Employment Act. He is John Herbert Kemnitz, a barrister and solicitor, who is now married to a Sydney girl and employed as a temporary legal officer at the Legal Services Bureau. He served with the Royal Air Force in Malaya, and after service in Java, Ceylon, and India he was discharged as a squadron-leader in New Zealand in October. After considering Mr Kemnitz's application, the chairman of the board said that there was no Preference Act in either New Zealand or the United Kingdom, and that there were no provisions whereby a basis of reciprocity could be arranged between the countries for preference.
