SYDNEY WATERSIDERS

SHIPPING AGAIN HELD UP WHEAT BOARD'S ORDER IGNORED SYDNEY, April 14. As the result of 1,000 waterside workers refusing to work, six ships have been immobilised over the weekend, and 26 have been worked shorthanded. The dispute arose from the dismissal of five men earlier in the week for refusing to load coke or for reporting late. Nearly all the ships affected are overseas freighters, and one which received no labour is the Avonmoor, loading flour for stricken areas in Tndia. The Ministry of Food and the Government of- India recently appealed to the Australian Government to have the maximum overtime worked on all ships loading wheat and flour for India, and the Wheat Board issued an order that such ships would be worked at the week-ends and through the Easter holidays.
