HARBOUR BOARD AFFAIRS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —At a recent meeting of the Otago Harbour Board a member remarked he would like to know whether air Macdonald is a representative of the watersidera or a representative of the ratepayers of Dunedin. As an elector of the combined districts vt Dunedin and St. Kilda, I feel sure tew will disagree with me when I state that he cer.tainly does not represent us, seeing that he was ninth in a field of 10 at the previous elections, and was not a candidate at the last elections. Mr Macdonald reminded Mr Cassie that he represented not only Dunedin, but Port Chalmers, and other electors of the Port of Otago. Yet those did not have a vote in his election. Had the Otago Labour Bepresentation Committee recommended theGovernment to appoint the highest defeated candidate at ±he last Harbour Board elections, instead of the second lowest, the electors of the city and St. Kilda would not have been disfranchised, and their wishes, as reflected in their vote ignored.—l am, etc., Ex-waterside Worker.
