NATIONAL FOUR DEFEATED

' VETERAN OTAGO CREW'S NARROW WIN The defeat of New Zealand’6 premier rowing four. Port Chalmert, which won the national title last month, provided the highlight of the Otago Rowing Association’s annual regatta at Centennial Beach, Port Chalmers, on Saturday afternoon. Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the regatta, while there was a large attendance.

Port had two crews competing in the senior fours, and the race was between them for the greater part of the distance. The champion combination, began to draw away after three-quar-ters of a mile, but the veteran Otago four, rowing on the shore side of the course, overtook them and secured the decision in a close finish.
